If you have a specific class schedule in mind for your character this time around, list what classes you are (or aren't) taking here. That way, the Professors know whether or not your character is likely to be in their class.

Listing the character's general aptitude is also optional, but it can also serve as a point of reference for other players. If you have a 6th year character, you can list what you got in OWLS last year (if you're playing your character as advancing from the old board).

Level of Aptitude: (different from grades) You can only choose one talent (or none at all if you wish) If you wish to have more than one, then you'll have to choose two "struggle" areas:
Talented
Good
Average
Struggle

Basically, all first-years start out with all the core set of classes:
* Astronomy
* Charms
* Defense Against the Dark Arts
* Herbology
* History of Magic
* Potions
* Transfiguration

When they're in their 3rd year, they'll add two or more of the following electives:
* Ancient Runes
* Arithmancy
* Care of Magical Creatures
* Divination
* Muggle Studies

3rd year and beyond, all students can drop but not add any electives they chose earlier but must keep to the first-year core classes.

5th year, students take OWLs in their core subjects and whatever electives they chose.

6th year, they begin taking classes in preparation for NEWT-levels in their 7th years. STUDENTS CAN ONLY CONTINUE IN A SUBJECT IF THEY PASSED THE OWL FOR THAT SUBJECT.

Most students drop the courses that they didn't pass or aren't going to be helpful later on in their careers. Having more than 5 NEWT-level courses as a seventh year is difficult - the maximum is 8.

It'd be helpful to consult HP Lexicon for how academics work specifically.

A Note: Please be realistic when choosing your character's strengths and weaknesses. No one can be perfect in every subject. Reasonably smart characters should aim to obtain 8-10 OWLs, so use your best judgment and try to stay consistent with your character.
